At the time of his arrest, Boosie BadAzz had signed with Jay-Z's Roc-A-Fella Records. The album was ultimately never released and he also left Roc-A-Fella. Despite his departure, Boosie BadAzz was well received and he became one of hip hop's most respected leaders. In addition to his own solo albums, Boosie has made major contributions to many of the albums put out by other rappers. During the summer of 2007, he released the DJ Drama assisted mixtape Da Saga Continues. In 2008, he appeared on the Hustle and Flow album with 50 Cent and the Game. A controversial topic amongst his fans has been his (and other rappers') association with drug abuse, most notably with his former partner and N.W.A. member Eazy-E. In 2001, while working on his debut album, Hatch was introduced to the drug game and became involved in the drug culture. In fact, the cover of his debut featured a photo of him and Eazy-E in a drug bazaar.
Shortly after, the song was re-recorded and released as a single from Boosie's second album, Gangsta Luv.[15] In 2011, Boosie released a free mixtape titled Power to the People as a free download in honor of the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower's landing in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The mixtape features Boosie's veteran collaborator and fellow Louisiana rapper Foxx. It was released on Atlantic Records. Boosie was later dropped from the label.[16]
In 2006, Boosie released his third studio album, I Got That Work. The album features production from B.G. and DJ Toomp. A fourth album, Thug Is Woe, was released in 2008, featuring production by B.G., Lil' Flip and Paul Wall. He also released his autobiography, 827ec27edc
